This one's waay late and everyone's probably had enough of "lists" and "best ofs". Last August I started saving out screenshots of sites that I liked design-wise. Here they are:
1. bravotv.com
2. apple.com/leopard
3. expressionengine.com
4. fortuito.us
5. knoxville.org
6. newyorker.com
7. nymag.com
8. paidcontent.org
9. portfolio.com
10. tpm.com
11. visitcascadia.com
12. walt.allthingsd.com
13. webdesignerwall.com
14. msnbc.com
And that's it. Maybe I'll elaborate on them later so in the meantime... Happy New Year everyone.
Some of you who ACTUALLY tune in to this blog (if such group of people exists) may have noticed my new big-image-on-top-of-your-vox-blog and probably did do what it said or just kinda went huh? For those that did went huh, here's a bit of explanation: I recently made a video for a kraft single contest on myspace that ended up making it as a finalist. Now in order to win, I'll need some votes. And those votes I'm hoping to gather from friends, family, innocent bystanders and you, my dear reader(s). Winning the contest gets me $50,000 and a chance for my video to be broadcast as a national commercial. You'll also help me pay off my debts, pay off my wedding and maybe not pay off my house but at least make it a bit comfortable paying for it. And for that you'll be good karma.
It's the third one that has a boy wearing eyeglasses. So please help a fellow voxer out and get yourself some good karma :)
Just started going through Apple's newly updated Leopard page and noticed a couple of new things that weren't mentioned before and/or doesn't seem to get the big look-at-me treatment but I thought were Leopards hidden surprises.
I'm in beautiful San Fran right now attending the Netsuite conference with a colleague. So far its been good learning a few things and networking with people. Networking's never been a strong point of mine and its certainly been quite a learning experience and it was actually a lot of fun. I think it also helps to realize that in a way everyone there is really trying to do the same thing!
Aside from the conference, I fortunately had some time to walk around town and do the touristy thing. Went to japantown and bought a couple of souvenirs; finally got to visit SFMOMA and see original works of art from artists I've long admired. Also got lost walking around downtown. Also enjoyed some good crab at the wharf.
That should be it for now. I'll post some pics when I get the chance.
One last note: I didn't know there was a Jollibee right in the middle of SF! I was here 3 years ago and was told no such thing existed! I'm now planning on hitting it up before I leave and hoarding a whole bunch of their burgers to bring back to Houston!
So I just got my $100 rebate from Apple for buying an iPhone before they dropped the price and I've been thinking about how I'm gonna spend it. Options ranged from buying stuff from iTunes, buying that shiny new aluminum keyboard or a Garageband Jam Pack. None of it was really a must buy so I'm still looking out for another option until I remembered another a certain TV show dilemma I was having and all of a sudden BAM! I realize how I'm gonna spend my new found moolah: an El Gato EyeTV Hybrid.
So now I'll just need to find that extra 30 bucks.
So Apple sez they're not gonna sell NBC shows on iTunes anymore because NBC wants to charge Apple more for them. This leaves me with a wee bit of a problem since one of my favorite shows of recent is Heroes which is an NBC show. In fact, my girlfriend also loves this show and we were looking forward on getting the 2nd season on... iTunes. So you can see my problem right there. I'm not gonna be able to buy it on iTunes because the 2nd season won't be on iTunes.
Well why not just watch it on TV like everyone else? Well let me explain... my gf works nights at a hospital and that means she will most likely miss the airing. With iTunes I just download the episodes, sync it to my AppleTV and watch in on my flat screen. Soo now you can scratch that idea.
This leaves me with a couple of choices: A) Record it on VCR for later viewing but the quality's crap (I know, it's already 2007) so that takes me to B) shell out money for a DVR and just record the shows (commercial-free, I believe) or C) download it off BitTorrent (which I do not condone or advice any one to do) and download that to AppleTV. Solutions B and C are fine by me although I would still have to suffer differing levels of frustrations not to mention requiring to have me change my whole set up just to watch some tv.
Ok so that's a little over reacting but what I don't get is why NBC would put themselves in such a position, obviously cutting themselves off of my credit card and everyone else's unless... they have some devious plan to sell their own content on their terms for a higher price in which case I guess it's be B or C for me.
And all was right with the world... now where's the Beatles?!
